SLIME!!

This was a definite hit with the boys! We did it as part of our Halloween activities but really, you could do it any time. Here's what you need to make it.

Homemade Slime
1 tsp Borax powder
1 1/2 cups water, divided
4 oz bottle Elmer's glue
food coloring

Add borax powder to 1 cup of water and stir to dissolve. Pour glue into a medium mixing bowl and add 1/2 cup water. Add a few drops of food coloring and then stir to mix glue solution until smooth. Pour the borax mixture into the glue mixture and watch the solids start to form. Stir for a few moments and then use your hands to gather the mass. The mixture will be very soft and wet. Keep kneading until it firms up and feels dry. Discard excess liquid in bowl. The more you knead and play with the slime the firmer it will become. Store in a ziplock bag or airtight container.

This a great boredom buster. I'm sure we'll be making it again. When something  keeps my boys entertained and this happy, it's totally worth it.

  1. This looks like fun. What is borax powder and where do you get it? It's probably a craft thing, and I'm not too crafty.

  2. Denise-it's actually a laundry powder. I found it at Smith's. Oh,and I'm not very crafty either.:)
