Confirmation That I Couldn't Have Been A Pioneer.

On our way to St. George, we stopped at Cove Fort. It was built by the Latter-Day Saints in the 1800's. You can go here and here for more information. If you like church history, then it would be well worth your while to stop if your ever headed to Southern Utah.

We first went into the main cabin and watched a short film about how it was settled. Then we took of tour of the fort and surrounding buildings.

Inside the Fort. We were shown every room and told what it was used for or who stayed there. There was one room designated for the prophet, when he stayed.

Main kitchen and dining area.

I just love this picture of Porter.

On top of Cove Fort.

Taylor, Alessandria, Chase, Porter and Cameron on the wagon.

Taylor and Porter trying out one of the Pioneer games. This one is hard!

Porter trying to teach Cameron. That cute elderly man was our tour guide.

I really enjoyed learning about this place. It struck me how, in some ways, life was so simple back then. I don't know if we truly grasp the concept of hard work. Women in the kitchen all day. Children learning how to work alongside their parents since infancy. And they were happy with having so little. Dang, we are so blessed. And spoiled.

  1. Indeed. I'm fascinated by the recent movement to get some of that back.
